Partner with practice leadership to develop and execute strategic growth plans for the Corporate practice, particularly within M&A and Private Equity. Lead all aspects of pitches, RFPs, proposals, and client presentations, ensuring high-quality deliverables and effective follow-through. Identify and pursue client growth opportunities through market research, competitive intelligence, and data-driven business development strategies. Develop and execute targeted client development initiatives, from strategic planning through implementation and relationship expansion. Drive lateral partner business development strategy, including integration planning and market positioning for new M&A and Private Equity partners. Monitor industry, client, and competitor developments, translating market intelligence into actionable recommendations for lawyers and practice leaders. Manage and mentor junior business development professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth. Oversee the creation and maintenance of key marketing and business development materials, including pitches, attorney biographies, web content, and practice collateral. Lead strategy and execution for high-profile client events, thought leadership initiatives, speaking engagements, rankings submissions, and industry awards. Manage M&A and Private Equity deal tracking, reporting, and database initiatives to support business planning, marketing, and market visibility efforts.
A successful Senior Business Development Manager should have: Bachelor's degree; Advanced degree, JD or MBA a plus. Minimum of 7 years of experience with business development in legal or professional services; 3+ years of management experience. Relevant practice group experience and working with stakeholders in Corporate practices. Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills. Proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new opportunities. Team leadership and mentoring capabilities.
