Senior Bookkeeper / Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: 100% Remote | Employment Type: Contract to Hire

A privately held investment and asset management organization is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper / Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day accounting operations across a multi-entity structure. The organization oversees a diversified portfolio that includes investment-related entities, real estate holdings, and affiliated operating businesses.

Reporting to senior finance leadership, this role is responsible for core bookkeeping and accounting functions with a strong emphasis on accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial record maintenance. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple entities and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full accounts payable process, including invoice review, approvals, and payment coordination
  • Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and assist with monthly close activities
  • Track intercompany transactions, allocations, and related accounting activity
  • Assist with cash tracking, reporting, and financial organization
  • Support external accountants with tax preparation and audit requests
  • Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
  • Contribute to workflow improvements and accounting process enhancements

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Strong background in accounts payable and general bookkeeping
  • Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting platforms
  • Experience supporting multiple entities or business lines
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment

Preferred Background

  • Experience within investment management, family office, real estate, or alternative asset environments
  • Exposure to month-end close procedures and financial reporting support
  • Familiarity with expense management or accounting automation tools
