Senior BESS Design Manager (EPC) — Lead Grid-Scale Storage From Concept to Energization

McCarran, NV (Tahoe Reno Industrial Center) | Full-Time | $140,000 – $180,000

The Opportunity

Grid-scale battery storage is being deployed faster than almost anything in the energy industry — and it needs leaders who can keep design moving at that pace. Our client, a rapidly scaling clean energy innovator, is hiring a Senior BESS Design Manager to own full design and engineering for battery energy storage infrastructure, from greenfield concept through production. You'll be the person who pulls engineering, procurement, construction, and manufacturing together and makes aggressive schedules actually happen.

Why You'll Love It

  • Own the whole arc: Conceptualization, feasibility, funding, 30/60/90/IFC design, and construction support
  • The hottest sector in energy: Utility-scale BESS deployment at serious speed
  • Cross-functional leadership: You're the point of contact who aligns every internal and external party
  • Nevada advantage: No state income tax, Reno-Tahoe on your doorstep

What You'll Do

  • Lead greenfield and brownfield infrastructure and equipment install projects for grid-scale battery energy storage systems — concept through construction
  • Serve as the point of contact for internal stakeholders and external parties throughout deployment
  • Manage permitting and construction documents through transmittal
  • Own design funding and schedule for all assigned projects
  • Coordinate schedule requirements with procurement and construction partners
  • Identify resource gaps and constraints; influence teams outside your reporting line
  • Apply lean construction principles and fully integrated BIM design
  • Lead feasibility studies, value engineering, and options analysis

What You'll Bring

  • Deep understanding of grid-scale energy storage and balance-of-plant equipment — inverters, transformers, switchgear, HVAC, fire suppression
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical system design, interconnection requirements, and utility-scale project execution
  • Knowledge of battery systems, electrical protection, power conversion, MV/HV systems, and controls
  • Familiarity with UL 9540/1973/1741, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and IEC standards
  • BS in Engineering (Electrical preferred) or equivalent demonstrated ability
  • PE or RA license preferred
  • 5+ years managing multi-disciplinary scopes at A/E or design engineering firms; EPC or project management experience
  • Experience with commercial/industrial electrical installations and distribution systems
  • Calm under pressure, effective in ambiguity

Storage is scaling. Scale with it. Apply now.
