Job Type: 12-month contract, W2 

Expected hours per week: 40 hours per week 

Schedule: On-site, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Job Description:  

Position Summary 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backup Solutions Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise backup, disaster recovery (DR), and data protection solutions across complex hybrid environments. This role will serve as a subject matter expert for backup architecture supporting on-premises infrastructure, cloud platforms, virtualization technologies, and enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Commvault, HPE Zerto, VMware, cloud-native backup technologies, and disaster recovery strategies while ensuring data resiliency, compliance, and business continuity. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions for large-scale, mission-critical environments. 

  • Architect and support backup strategies for on-premises workloads including VMware, AIX, HP-UX, NAS, Windows, and Linux systems. 

  • Design and maintain data protection solutions across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). 

  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Commvault SaaS environments supporting:  

  • Microsoft 365 

  • Microsoft Teams 

  • SharePoint Online 

  • Azure Virtual Machines 

  • Azure Blob Storage 

  • AWS EC2, EFS, and S3 

  • GCP Virtual Machines 

  • Architect and maintain end-to-end replication and disaster recovery solutions utilizing HPE Zerto. 

  • Configure and manage high-performance backup and recovery operations utilizing IntelliSnap technologies. 

  • Develop, support, and optimize database backup strategies for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2, and PostgreSQL environments. 

  • Design and manage immutable storage repositories and WORM-enabled cloud storage solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP. 

  • Administer Commvault Hyperscale appliances, Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL), and physical tape library environments. 

  • Implement and support VMware Auto Recovery solutions and cloud-based recovery architectures. 

  • Create and maintain storage policies, schedule policies, auxiliary copies, DDB backups, and retention configurations. 

  • Develop automation solutions using PowerShell to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort. 

  • Perform backup and recovery testing, disaster recovery exercises, and technology assessments to validate resiliency objectives. 

  • Provide architectural guidance, best practices, and technical leadership to infrastructure and operations teams. 

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation standards, and operational procedures. 

Required Qualifications 

Experience 

  • 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions. 

  • 5+ years of experience with HPE Zerto. 

  • 5+ years of experience administering Commvault Command Center and CommCell Console. 

  • 5+ years of experience developing PowerShell automation scripts. 

  • 5+ years of experience protecting large-scale VMware environments. 

  • 5+ years of experience creating and managing storage policies, schedule policies, auxiliary copies, and DDB backups. 

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. 

  • Extensive experience with enterprise storage, backup appliances, virtualization, and cloud-native data protection technologies.

Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 

  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Commvault and/or HPE Zerto certifications. 

  • Experience with enterprise cloud migrations and hybrid-cloud architectures. 

  • Experience supporting highly regulated environments with strict data retention and compliance requirements. 

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
