Description

Our Client, an IT Services and Consultant company, is looking for a Senior AWS Data Engineer/Manager – Geospatial for their Newark, NJ/Hybrid location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage scalable geospatial data architectures that efficiently organize, catalog, and expose spatial datasets to analytics and application teams for consistent business value delivery.
  • Develop and maintain robust ETL pipelines using AWS Glue and related tools to ingest, transform, and enrich diverse geospatial data sources while ensuring data quality and reliability. -Configure and optimize AWS S3 storage structures for geospatial assets to support efficient querying, lifecycle management, and cost effective retention of critical spatial information. -Implement data processing workflows in AWS Glue Studio that streamline development of complex geospatial transformations and automate recurring spatial analysis tasks.
  • Use AWS Athena to design performant query strategies on geospatial data lakes that enable rapid exploration and reporting for stakeholders across multiple business domains.
  • Apply AWS DevOps practices to automate deployment, monitoring, and updating of geospatial data pipelines, ensuring consistent environments and minimal downtime for users. -Collaborate with product and analytics teams to translate location based business questions into geospatial data solutions that directly support operational decisions and strategic planning.
  • Establish governance standards for geospatial datasets including access controls, metadata conventions, and stewardship practices that enhance trust and reuse of spatial data assets.
  • Monitor system performance and cost metrics for AWS geospatial workloads, proactively tuning configurations and resource usage to maintain efficiency within budget constraints. -Document geospatial platform designs, data flows, and operational playbooks in clear technical narratives that help teams understand dependencies and maintain long term continuity. -Coordinate with security and compliance teams to align geospatial data handling on AWS with organizational policies and regulatory expectations, minimizing risk while enabling innovation. -Support hybrid work collaboration by enabling secure remote access patterns and tools that allow geospatial stakeholders to work effectively from multiple locations without disruption. -Engage with internal customers to gather feedback on spatial tools and data services, iterating on solutions to improve usability, insights quality, and practical impact on business outcomes.
 
Requirements:
  • Ring extensive experience in AWS S3 to design bucket structures, access patterns, and storage policies tailored to large geospatial datasets and associated metadata. -Demonstrate strong proficiency with AWS Glue and AWS Glue Studio to build, schedule, and monitor ETL jobs that reliably transform and integrate complex spatial and tabular data. -Apply deep knowledge of AWS Glue ETL frameworks to handle performance tuning, error handling, and pipeline optimization for continuous geospatial data processing. -Use AWS Athena skills to craft effective query approaches on partitioned geospatial tables, enabling fast retrieval of spatial insights from large data lakes. -Show practical experience with AWS DevOps toolchains that support version control, continuous integration, and automated deployment of geospatial data workflows. -Exhibit solid understanding of cloud native geospatial concepts and data formats, enabling smooth integration of spatial services with enterprise analytics platforms. -Prefer exposure to broader AWS analytics and data engineering services that complement geospatial workloads and strengthen end to end spatial intelligence solutions.
  • AWS Certified Data Engineer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect and any recognized certification in geospatial or GIS technologies - preferred
