Job Title: Senior Automation Lead – Functional API Testing

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Automation Lead with strong hands-on expertise in Playwright and Karate Framework to lead API and functional test automation initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated API test solutions while ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of enterprise applications. This role requires close collaboration with developers, business analysts, and cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and execution of automated functional and API test cases.
• Develop and maintain automation frameworks using Playwright and Karate Framework.
• Perform functional testing of REST and SOAP APIs to validate business requirements, system behavior, and data integrity.
• Execute API testing using tools such as Postman, Swagger, REST Assured, and Karate.
• Validate API request/response payloads, HTTP status codes, headers, authentication, and error handling.
• Analyze API specifications and business requirements to identify comprehensive test scenarios and ensure complete test coverage.
• Perform regression, integration, and end-to-end testing across multiple integrated systems.
• Identify, log, track, and verify defects while working closely with development and business teams to ensure timely resolution.
• Create and maintain test plans, test cases, execution reports, and QA documentation.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Mentor team members and drive QA best practices across automation initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance with a strong focus on API and functional automation testing.
• Proven hands-on expertise with Playwright and Karate Framework.
• Strong experience testing REST and SOAP APIs.
• Proficiency with API testing tools including Postman, Swagger, REST Assured, and Karate.
• Strong understanding of API validation, authentication mechanisms, request/response payloads, HTTP protocols, and error handling.
• Experience in regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading QA automation teams or serving as a technical lead.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution.
• Experience with test reporting, defect management, and QA metrics.
• Knowledge of enterprise application integrations and distributed systems.
• Agile or Scrum certifications are a plus.
