Summary

Minimum Starting Salary is $18.4349 hourly, depending on qualifications.

The City of Waco Seeks:

A compassionate and dependable professional who is committed to providing exceptional care for animals, delivering outstanding customer service, and supporting the daily operations of the City Animal Shelter.

Job Summary

Under basic supervision, provides experienced care for animals in the City Animal Shelter.

Qualifications

Required:

• Valid Texas Drivers License
• H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
• 1 year of customer service and/or animal care
• Euthanasia Technician certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services is required within 180 Days.

Essential Functions:

• Cleans Animal Shelter daily, including feeding, watering, and grooming animals; monitors animals for illness and disease and provides medications.
• Provides customer assistance; maintains and updates files and assists with reports and computer entry.
• Euthanizes animals and process animal carcasses.
• May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
• Operates a City vehicle to retrieve warehouse items and transport pets to adoption events or other assigned locations.
• Impounds owner surrenders, strays, and seized animals, entering their information into the shelter management software.
