WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is not available for a Hybrid Telework workweek

POSITION PURPOSE:

Manages and controls daily operations of security, Fire and Intercom (FIRECOM), locks, and elevator shops. Responsible for continuously evaluating and improving processes for daily operations and projects. Ensures work and operations are in compliance with Wake County Public School System’s (WCPSS) standards, procedures, and processes. Coordinates with school administrators and other staff, as required, to execute maintenance work and minimize disruption to school operations.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Considerableknowledgeof OccupationalSafetyandHealthAdministration(OSHA)standards;
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Microsoft Word and Excel; Google Apps; Database software;
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellentcustomerserviceskills;
  • Effectiveorganizationalskills;
  • Abilitytoworkindependentlyandcompletetasksintheabsenceofcleardirection;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Ability to be proactive and apply technical knowledge to improve deliverables, providing attention to detail to minimize errors;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’sdegreefromaregionallyaccreditedcollegeoruniversity;
  • Fiveyearsofdemonstratedexperiencewithsecuritysystems,firealarms,communicationsequipment, locksmithing, or elevator systems, including maintenance and design reviews;
  • Threeyearsof experience leadingworkteams;
  • Othercombinationsofapplicableeducation,training,andexperiencewhichprovidetheknowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Lowvoltageelectricallicenseorthenecessaryexperiencetoobtainone.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Managesandprovidesleadershiptothesecurityshop,communicationsshop,lockshop,andelevatorshop staff.
  2. Manages work orders, contracts, project cost estimates, feasibility studies, long-range planning, service contracts, and provides customer interface for assigned systems.
  3. Evaluatestheinfrastructure andbuildingsystemsbyassessingthe technicalcondition,evaluatingtherepair, or replacement options, and providing future planning, programming of repairs, and improvements.
  4. Reviews and inspects capital improvement projects related to security, life safety, locks, and elevators with respect to budget, maintainability, reliability, and consistency with the WCPSS design guidelines.
  5. Supportspreventivemaintenanceprogramsthroughdevelopment,annualassessments,andensuringthe workforce is used in the most cost-effective manner.
  6. Ensurescompliancewithallstateandgovernmentlawsandregulations,asrequired.EnsuresWCPSS procedure and policy compliance and application of sound business principles.
  7. Maintainstechnicalrecords,files,andequipmentforassignedareas.
  8. Ensuresstaffadherestodistrictpoliciesandprocedures.
  9. Performsotherrelatedduties,asassigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff and staff members. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force.
