Job Summary
The Senior Administrative Assistant provides high-level, professional support to faculty, staff, and departmental leadership by managing complex administrative operations with independence, discretion, and sound judgment. This role serves as a key partner in advancing the day-to-day effectiveness of the office through coordination of calendars, meetings, travel, events, correspondence, reports, and special projects. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to handle non-routine inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, and a proactive approach to improving processes, maintaining records and data systems, and supporting office operations. In addition, the Senior Administrative Assistant supports faculty and students with travel arrangements, assists with event logistics and communications, supervises student workers, and serves as a collaborative backup resource for other members of the administrative support team.
What Were Looking For:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Three or more years of experience in an administrative support role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
- Advanced computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.
- Experience with Concur Travel System
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels within and external to the university to support department needs
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues or improve processes
- Ability to identify problems and implement or recommend solutions
- Drafting, proofreading and editing skills
