Position Summary
The Senior Actuarial & Predictive Analytics Analyst provides analytical leadership for the Actuarial Department within Universal Shield Insurance Group. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Actuary with support as senior business and product leaders, this role leads predictive modeling, profitability, reserving, and loss cost initiatives that inform rate, underwriting, and business strategy decisions, and translates technical findings for non-technical stakeholders across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead complex actuarial analysis and predictive analytics initiatives for the E&S/Specialty Programs Planning Unit, partnering closely with the Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Actuary as well as senior business and product leaders.
  • Apply data mining, advanced analytics, and modeling techniques to identify emerging relationships in data and translate findings into actionable recommendations; maintain expert-level knowledge of predictive modeling and validation methods and evaluate new software and tools for potential adoption.
  • Serve as one of the Company’s AI knowledge workers and leverage Company AI tools as components to develop analyses and solutions.
  • Lead line-of-business profitability reviews and recommend rate and underwriting actions.
  • Support reserving analysis by performing first-pass reviews and preparing recommendations for the Chief Actuary’s approval.
  • Lead loss cost reviews, present recommendations to the Chief Actuary, and communicate approved actions to business units to secure buy-in.
  • Document assumptions, methodologies, and data sources for all analysis.
  • Conduct cross-functional peer reviews to strengthen collaboration, ensure quality, and drive innovation.
  • Prepare actuarial reports and presentations tailored for non-technical audiences.
  • Recommend enhancements to actuarial tools and processes in partnership with the Manager of External Data & Actuarial.
  • Build and maintain relationships across teams, customers, and business partners; lead cross-functional communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related field requiring modeling, programming, or quantitative analysis.
License/Certification/Designation:
  • CSPA (Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) Certified Specialist in Predictive Analytics) designation preferred; 2 or more actuarial exams preferred.
Experience:
  • Generally 5 or more years of actuarial experience, including a demonstrated background in predictive analytics.
  • Experience in commercial liability, commercial property, and/or garage lines strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with statistical/programming tools commonly used in predictive modeling (e.g., SQL, R, Python, SAS) and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). High competency in MS Excel. Experience with current AI tools like Claude, Claude CoWork, Claude Code preferred.
