    Senior Accounting Manager

     Schedule: Full-time | Monday - Friday

As our Senior Accounting Manager, you’ll provide accounting leadership, financial insight, and operational support that helps Cedar Community fulfill its mission with integrity and accountability. Working closely with the Controller and leadership team, you’ll oversee key accounting functions, support financial reporting and audits, guide accounting staff, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

     

    What You'll Do 

    • Lead and oversee key accounting functions while supporting the Controller and providing guidance to accounting staff
    • Prepare, analyze, and communicate accurate financial statements, reports, budgets, and financial information to leadership and managers
    • Develop and analyze budgets, monitor budget-to-actual results, and provide financial insights to support organizational decision-making
    • Oversee reconciliations, subsidiary ledgers, fixed assets, cost allocation, fund accounting, and other general accounting functions
    • Develop and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls that promote accuracy, consistency, efficiency, and compliance
    • Assist with annual and external audits by preparing documentation and providing requested financial information
    • Prepare and coordinate required healthcare, governmental, tax, and regulatory reports, including applicable cost reports and nonprofit filings
    • Ensure accounting practices and financial reporting comply with GAAP, healthcare requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations
    • Maintain accounting for payroll-related transactions, cash receipts, petty cash, and other assigned financial functions
    • Oversee accounting and compliance related to planned giving agreements, including Gift Annuities and Trusts
    • Prepare custom reports and provide financial analysis to help managers understand results, trends, costs, and opportunities
    • Stay current on accounting standards, healthcare regulations, and reporting requirements
    • Build positive, professional relationships with team members, managers, residents, donors, auditors, vendors, and regulatory agencies
    • Maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate integrity, accountability, and ethical financial practices
    • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

    What You’ll Need

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred
    • Eight or more years of accounting experience, preferably including public accounting experience
    • Experience in healthcare, senior living, and/or nonprofit organizations preferred
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, cost allocation, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting
    • Knowledge of healthcare accounting and third-party cost reporting preferred
    • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
    • Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets and financial reporting systems, with the ability to learn new software
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality
    • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and uphold organizational policies and ethical standards
