Senior Accountant - Strategic Projects & Automation
Opportunity: Direct Hire | Strong Growth Potential
Location: Charlotte, NC
Hybrid Schedule: 3-4 days onsite/ 1-2 days remote
Compensation: $95,000 - $110,000 + 5-10% bonus
Position Overview
Our client, a well-established company in Charlotte, is seeking a motivated Senior Accountant to support technical accounting, financial reporting, strategic projects, and process improvements. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to expand beyond traditional accounting responsibilities, work closely with senior leadership, and gain exposure to high-impact projects and automation initiatives. The hiring manager is specifically seeking someone with the potential to grow into a management role.
Key Responsibilities
- Research complex accounting transactions, prepare technical accounting memos, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Support quarterly and annual financial reporting, footnote disclosures, and accounting policy development.
- Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis for month end close
- Gain exposure to complex accounting initiatives involving financing transactions, new contracts, business expansion, accounting policy enhancements, and implementation of new accounting standards.
- Help redesign accounting processes, improve reporting efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and implement automation solutions using tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, and Tableau.
- Partner with senior leadership on technical accounting assessments, special projects, and cross-functional business initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA or actively pursuing certification
- 3+ years of accounting or auditing experience, preferably with a public accounting background
- Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and analytical skills
- Independent problem solver with a proactive, technology-driven mindset
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle), Power BI, Alteryx, or similar tools preferred
