Job Overview

This is a full-time, in-office position within our Accounting department in Knoxville, TN. As our Senior Accountant, you will own core day-to-day accounting functions—from driving the month-end close and managing complex revenue recognition (ASC 606) to leading balance sheet reconciliations and audit prep. This role is ideal for a hands-on, process-driven professional who thrives on turning manual spreadsheet tracking into streamlined, automated workflows while maintaining strict GAAP compliance.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Close Process Leadership: Driving month-end and year-end close schedules by coordinating across AP, AR, and Operations to ensure a timely "hard close," followed by postmortems to continuously shave days off the cycle.
  • Revenue Recognition & Automation: Managing complex deferred revenue schedules in strict compliance with ASC 606 performance obligations and leading the transition from manual tracking to automated system workflows.
  • Balance Sheet Ownership & Tax Alignment: Owning all balance sheet reconciliations, resolving legacy variances, and executing monthly/annual tax-to-book reconciliations for sales, property, and corporate tax accruals.
  • Inventory & Audit Coordination: Assisting with physical inventory counts, reconciling counts with the subledger, and serving as the primary liaison for external auditors to fulfill all PBC requests ahead of schedule.
  • Operational & Team Support: Providing hands-on ad-hoc support across core operational functions as needed, including stepping in for order entry, invoicing, expense report approvals, and vendor/customer setup.

Your Profile / What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Supervisor, or high-performing Staff Accountant ready for the next step.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Accounting or Finance.
  • GAAP & Tax Expertise: Deep, practical knowledge of GAAP, accounting standards, financial compliance, and state sales tax rules.
  • Tech Stack Proficiency: Advanced MS Excel skills and hands-on experience with modern ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred), alongside working knowledge of integrated accounting and CRM databases.
  • Automation Mindset: A track record of taking manual, spreadsheet-heavy processes and automating them to increase accuracy and reduce audit risk.
  • Detail & Location Alignment: High accuracy, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and comfort working in a full-time, in-office environment in Knoxville, TN.
