About the Role
Haskell & White Talent Solutions is conducting a search on behalf of a client for an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team on a part-time basis, with a clear path to full-time. This person will work closely alongside the current accounting lead, learning the business deeply and taking ownership of day-to-day accounting and compliance functions across two entities.
This is more than a transactional accounting role. Our client is looking for someone with the maturity, judgment, and technical foundation to grow with the company over time and take on increasing responsibility as the role evolves. The right person thrives in a hands-on environment, takes ownership without being asked, and is motivated by the opportunity to build something meaningful.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounting functions across two entities with accuracy and consistency
Process payroll for both entities
Oversee compliance-related accounting tasks including government contract requirements and DCAA compliance
Support tax preparation by maintaining clean, organized financials for review
Manage inventory tracking and related recordkeeping
Handle HR and administrative finance tasks as needed
Work within QuickBooks (defense and government-compliant version) and maintain organized paper and digital filing systems
Partner closely with ownership on financial reporting and business decisions as the role evolves
Identify opportunities to improve processes and build stronger financial infrastructure over time
Qualifications
Solid hands-on accounting experience
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Experience with QuickBooks, including government and defense-compliant versions preferred
Familiarity with government contracting and DCAA compliance is a plus but not required
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Comfortable working in both paper-based and digital systems
A team player who takes ownership, communicates proactively, and is motivated to grow into a broader role
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; CPA a plus but not required
Schedule and Location
Part-time to start with a clear path to full-time
In-person in Orange County, CA
Compensation
Starting salary range of $80,000 to $100,000 annually on a full-time equivalent basis, commensurate with experience. Compensation will be prorated based on part-time hours at the start, with a clear path to full-time as the role grows.
