This position requires someone with experience working in large organizations, have a professional presence, high level of interpersonal communication and confidence working with, and communicate with Senior, VP and C-Level members of leadership.

Experience in financial and budget planning discussions is required. Healthcare and/or financial institution background is a plus. Penn Medicine uses Infor and Hyperion. Experience with these or similar software like SAS, Adaptive, Vena etc.

Interview: 2-3 rounds include teams interview with hiring manager followed by 1-2 panel interviews (with team members and then team leaders.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Lead monthly Actual vs. Budget analysis, including identification of key cost drivers, trends, and risks.
  • Prepare and maintain operating expense reports, including salary and non-salary expense.
  • Partner with Data & Technology (DTS) leaders to support annual budget development, reforecasts, and long-range planning activities.
  • Develop clear, concise financial narratives and executive-ready commentary to explain performance results and variances.
  • Analyze workforce trends, contractor spend, and position control to ensure alignment with approved budgets and staffing plans.
  • Support capital planning activities, including capital project tracking, capital spend analysis, and project-level financial reporting.
Accounting & Month-End Close Support
  • Prepare and review monthly expense accruals, prepaid amortization entries, and other journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accrual-based accounting standards.
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of GAAP to ensure accurate financial reporting, proper expense recognition, and compliance with internal accounting policies.
  • Support monthly close activities to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Coordinate with Capital Accounting and Accounts Payable to ensure accurate expense recognition and capitalization.
Reporting & Decision Support
  • Produce recurring and ad-hoc financial reports and dashboards (MTD, YTD, and trend analysis) for leadership review.
  • Provide analytical support for cost optimization initiatives, vendor spend reviews, and resource allocation decisions.
  • Support leadership with scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and financial impact assessments for new initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for recurring finance processes.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Act as a trusted finance partner to DTS stakeholders, promoting financial transparency and accountability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, automate processes, and enhance data quality.
  • Support audit requests and internal reviews as needed.

Credentials : Certified Public Accountant preferred but not required.
Education : · Bachelor's degree is required. Education Specialization : Accounting and/or Finance.
