Senior Accountant
Are you a seasoned accounting professional ready to take the next step in your career? A dynamic and growing organization in the transportation industry is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its high-performing Finance & Accounting team in Houston, TX.
About the Role
As a Senior Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting strategic decision-making across multiple business units. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position offers the opportunity to work on complex accounting functions, tax compliance, and financial analysis in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close deliverables
Support financial statement preparation and external audit requests
Conduct variance and flux analysis for financial reviews
Manage and assist with tax filings (property, sales/use, etc.) and compliance
Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules and depreciation
Document and improve accounting processes and internal controls
Mentor junior accounting staff and contribute to team development
Leverage accounting systems to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
4+ years of progressive experience
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
