Senior Accountant, Government Contracting
Location: Fairfax, VA area | Primarily Remote
Type: Temp-to-Hire, approximately 6 months
Salary Upon Conversion: $100,000-$110,000
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant with strong government contracting experience. This role will support general accounting, government billing, inventory accounting, and month-end close in a DCAA-compliant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage GL accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
- Prepare and submit government contract billings, including WAWF
- Support AP, AR, job cost accounting, and financial reporting
- Manage inventory accounting, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and discrepancy resolution
- Support DCAA, financial, and internal control audits
- Review work and provide guidance to a Staff Accountant
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Government contracting and DCAA experience required
- Strong government billing/WAWF experience required
- Hands-on inventory accounting experience required
- Strong GL, reconciliation, and month-end close experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Unanet experience is a plus, not required
Additional Details
This position is primarily remote, but candidates must be local to the Fairfax/Northern Virginia area and able to report onsite as needed. The first day will be onsite in Fairfax.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and able to meet applicable government customer security and system-access requirements.
