Position SummaryThe Senior Accountant is responsible for managing core accounting functions within a manufacturing environment, including cost accounting, inventory valuation, general ledger management, and month-end/year-end close processes. This role requires strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of manufacturing cost structures to support accurate financial reporting and decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAPManage standard costing, variance analysis (materials, labor, overhead), and inventory valuationReconcile general ledger accounts, including WIP, raw materials, and finished goods inventoryMonth-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliationsAnalyze production costs and identify cost-saving opportunities in collaboration with operationsSupport annual physical inventory counts and cycle counts; investigate and resolve discrepanciesAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost center analysisEnsure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirementsSupport external audits and prepare audit schedules/documentationAnalyze fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposalsPrepare sales/use tax filings and support other tax compliance as neededMentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staffRecommend and help implement process improvements and system enhancements (ERP)QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a manufacturing environmentStrong knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory managementProficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, NetSuite, or similar) and advanced Excel skillsSolid understanding of GAAP and internal control frameworksExcellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsStrong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with operations, purchasing, and plant managementPreferred SkillsExperience with standard costing systems and variance analysis in a manufacturing/production settingFamiliarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma conceptsExperience supporting external/internal auditsPhysical / Work EnvironmentPrimarily office-based with occasional time on the plant/production floorMay require occasional travel to other facilities
