    General Ledger and Month-end Close

    • Own assigned month-end close tasks on a defined calendar, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, deferrals, and fixed asset depreciation.
    • Maintain the GL and chart of accounts in alignment with the company's disclosed accounting practices and indirect cost pool structure.
    • Prepare and review journal entries with complete supporting documentation suitable for DCAA review.
    • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

    Reconciliations

    • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for cash, AR, unbilled receivables, AP, accrued liabilities, payroll, and fixed assets.
    • Bank reconciliations and BBC preparation.
    • Reconcile subledgers to the GL, including labor distribution, project ledgers, and timekeeping.

    Audit, Compliance, and Controls

    • Support DCAA audits, financial statement audits, and tax preparation by producing schedules and responding to requests.
    • Maintain internal controls over timekeeping, labor charging, and expense review consistent with DCAA expectations.
    • Document and improve accounting procedures and close checklists.

    Analysis and Reporting

    • Build and maintain Excel models and reports for close, reconciliations, rate tracking, and management reporting.
    • Identify process improvements and automation opportunities within the accounting system and Excel workflows.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. May substitute years for degree.
    • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a government contractor.
    • Working knowledge of FAR Part 31 cost principles, CAS, and DCAA audit expectations, including allowable versus unallowable cost treatment.
    • Hands-on experience with GL maintenance, full-cycle month-end close, and balance sheet reconciliations.

    • Advanced Excel skills: XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, pivot tables, data validation, and building structured, auditable workbooks. Power Query experience is a strong plus.
    • Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and the ability to meet firm close deadlines.
    • Ability to communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Unanet (GovCon ERP), including project accounting, labor distribution, and close processes. Experience with Deltek Costpoint or similar GovCon systems is also valued.
    • Experience preparing or supporting the annual Incurred Cost Submission (ICS).
