Under the direction of the Financial Reporting Manager, the Senior Accountant performs advanced governmental accounting duties, ensures compliance with GAAP/GASB standards, and collaborates with internal departments and external auditors to deliver accurate, timely, and comprehensive financial informationThis position requires excellent analytical skills, strong organizational abilities, effective communication, and an ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Accountant, you will play a leading role in Harris County's financial reporting process, including:Preparing major annual ACFR reports for Harris County, Flood Control, and Toll Road Authority. Strong financial statement preparation experience and understanding of governmental accounting principles. Intermediate or advanced Excel skills, including formulas, functions, and pivot tables. Experience with large ERP systems (PeopleSoft experience is a plus) (Minimum 2 years preferred). Excellent communication skills and the ability to tailor your approach to varied audiences.
