Responsibilities
Assist with the conversion from cash-basis to accrual-basis accounting, including appropriate accruals, prepaids, liabilities and other balance sheet adjustments
Address revenue and expense recognition and document related accounting conclusions
Prepare for the first financial statement audit, including audit-ready schedules, reconciliations and support
Assist with month-end and year-end close; prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
Maintain general ledger accuracy and assist with financial statement preparation and analysis
Calculate and reconcile sales commissions and maintain supporting schedules
Develop and document accounting policies and procedures and strengthen internal controls
Assist with cash management, forecasting, lender reporting and compliance requirements
Work with outside accountants, auditors and other financial professionals
Investigate accounting issues, recommend practical solutions and help build the accounting function as the business grows
Qualifications
Strong QuickBooks experience and strong Excel skills required
Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting, with solid general ledger, reconciliation and month-end close experience
Experience with cash-to-accrual conversion and financial statement audit preparation strongly preferred
Experience calculating commissions or other variable compensation preferred
Experience with lender reporting, borrowing-base facilities or financial services a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field and five or more years of progressive accounting experience preferred
CPA or public accounting experience desirable but not required
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong analytical, communication, and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and handle confidential financial information
