Overview:

The Senior Account Manager is responsible for the retention, and growth of CalVEBA's largest and/or most complex client accounts. This role leads proactive account planning, strengthens relationships across management and union leadership, and ensures complex client needs are addressed through coordinated internal resources and consultative service delivery.

This role is intended to expand the Client Services model by adding senior-level capacity for strategic execution, risk management, and stakeholder engagement beyond day-to-day benefits administration.

How you'll make an impact:
  • Provide day-to-day and strategic account management for assigned large, complex, or high-value accounts.
  • Develop and execute proactive account plans that support retention, client satisfaction, renewal readiness, and long-term partnership goals.
  • Build, expand, and strengthen relationships with benefit administrators, management-level stakeholders, union leadership, and senior client decision-makers.
  • Identify account risks, service trends, emerging issues, and relationship gaps; recommend and implement mitigation plans before escalation is required.
  • Lead coordination of internal resources to resolve complex client needs, support renewal strategy, and deliver consistent service outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to increase engagement, adoption, service value, and coverage levels where appropriate.
  • Mentor Account Managers on relationship building, meeting preparation, issue resolution, strategic follow-up, and account planning practices.
  • Reduce dependency on senior leadership for routine complex escalations by independently managing senior-level account issues when appropriate.
