Step Into the Fab: A Day in the Life
At SemiConX LLC, you start your shift on the production side of a Boise, Idaho semiconductor facility, reviewing 2D drawings and blueprints, syncing with engineers and construction teammates, and mapping out the day’s work. Safety comes first—permits checked, lockout/tagout verified, PPE on—then it’s time to build, troubleshoot, and keep critical systems online.
What You’ll Do
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems—wiring, conduit, lighting, and control systems—across commercial and industrial environments within a semiconductor setting.
- Diagnose issues with precision instruments like multimeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters to isolate faults and restore uptime quickly.
- Interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and specs to plan and execute installations accurately.
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes and rigorous safety standards.
- Inspect and service transformers, circuit breakers, and panelboards to confirm safe, reliable operation.
- Follow strict safety protocols—especially lockout/tagout—to protect people and equipment.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other trades to deliver on time and within budget.
- Respond to emergency calls to troubleshoot and resolve electrical problems without delay.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory so work is always ready to proceed.
- Mentor apprentices and junior electricians, sharing best practices and reinforcing safety.
- Complete detailed work orders, logs, and reports documenting work performed and materials used.
What You Bring
- Current Idaho Journeyman Electrician license (or eligibility via reciprocity). Idaho recognizes reciprocity for journeyman electricians from: Colorado, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming.
- Solid foundation in electrical installation in commercial and industrial settings, with experience in semiconductor environments.
- OSHA credentials: OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 for supervisory roles.
- Fluency in blueprint reading and working from 2D drawings.
- Ability to apply algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to plan, measure, and verify work.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills in English and a collaborative, team-first mindset.
