Job Title: Segmentation Technician

Job Description

The Segmentation Technician plays a key role in producing high-quality pre-operative surgical plans that support robotically assisted total hip and knee replacement procedures. This role focuses on precise CT scan review, anatomical segmentation, and creation of digital 3D bone models using specialized software. You will contribute directly to cutting-edge medical device technology while working in a close-knit, collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create new surgical cases using a proprietary case management system, ensuring all required information is accurately entered and organized.
  • Review CT scans for conformity to established surgical protocols and identify any issues that may impact the quality of the pre-operative plan.
  • Segment CT scans using specialized software to generate accurate 3D anatomical bone models for use in robotic surgery.
  • Develop pre-operative surgical plans based on the digital bone models for robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement procedures.
  • Review CT segmentations and surgical plans for accuracy, including verification of anatomical landmark selection, implant sizing, and implant positioning.
  • Upload completed pre-operative plans to field-based personnel in a timely and organized manner to support surgical scheduling and preparation.
  • Document all activities and case details according to prescribed methods and procedures to maintain clear records and ensure compliance with internal standards.
  • Follow detailed work instructions precisely to deliver consistent, high-quality output and meet team and department production targets.
  • Maintain a strong individual focus on productivity and quality to support overall team performance and departmental goals.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma is required; an associate degree or higher is preferred, ideally in a STEM-related field.
  • At least 2 years of work experience, preferably in fast-paced environments or computer-oriented roles.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with design-related software; experience with tools such as Photoshop, CAD, or similar applications is preferred.
  • Ability to work with specialized segmentation software to create accurate 3D anatomical bone models.
  • Attention to detail and strong quality focus when reviewing CT scans, anatomical landmarks, and implant sizing and positioning.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standardized procedures consistently.
  • Solid documentation skills to record activities according to prescribed methods and processes.
  • Comfort working with medical and technical information, including CT imaging and surgical planning workflows.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Anatomy knowledge is highly preferred and will support accurate segmentation and surgical planning.
  • Background or coursework in biomedical fields, biology, microbiology, or related disciplines is beneficial.
  • Experience or skills in design, drafting, or graphic design, including familiarity with Adobe Illustrator or similar tools, are advantageous.
  • Prior exposure to medical environments, medical scribing, or working with medical imaging is helpful.
  • Strong general computer literacy and ability to learn proprietary case management and segmentation software.
  • Interest in biomedical technology and medical devices, particularly robotic surgery and joint replacement.
  • Motivation to grow into roles such as engineering, sales, onsite robotic surgery representative, or advanced positions within the department.

Work Environment

This is an in-office position in a relatively quiet, focused atmosphere. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with voluntary overtime opportunities of up to 10 hours. During the holiday season, Saturday work is typically available and Sunday shifts may be compensated at a higher rate. The team operates with a close-knit, family-style culture, emphasizing collaboration, support, and professional growth. Business casual dress attire is expected. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Portage, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
