Security Officer I

Monitors, manages and responds to hospital security systems such as cameras, panic alarms, access control systems, infant abduction systems and wandering systems. De-escalates high tension situations with professional verbal de-escalation, physical de-escalation, and security tools when required to keep our patients, team members, and community safe.

As a Security Officer at UnityPoint Health, you’ll help create a safe, welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and team members. You’ll keep a watchful eye on our facilities, respond to safety concerns, and help prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.

Responsibilities:

• Monitors the safety and security of the hospital through documented inspection tours and customer focused interactions.
• Patrols hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and intruders.
• Monitors the conduct of visitors on hospital premises and appropriately questions/escorts unauthorized persons as needed.
• Performs investigations and reports safety and security violations as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: 

• High School Diploma/GED

Experience:  

• Military, Law Enforcement, or medical background is preferred.
• Customer service or public relations experience is preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Valid Driver's License
