Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds is seeking Security Officer III. The Security Officer III will provide safety and security to students, faculty and staff in a professional, courteous manner by maintaining order and upholding the image and respect of the department and the college. The Security Officer Senior position is required to work shifts (24-hour scheduling) and may be assigned to any of the three college campuses.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of statue enforcement; safety and security concepts, principles, procedures and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of customer service practices and principles. Demonstrated skill in the use of security vehicles, communication equipment, alarm systems, and other types of security equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and give oral and written instructions, to react appropriately in routine and emergency situations, to gather information and write factual reports, and to explain and ensure compliance with policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a diverse population.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain certification as a campus security officer as mandated by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. (DCJS).

Additional Considerations

  • Security Experience in public service-oriented environment
  • Basic skills in the operation of personal computers
  • First Aid and CPR Training Certification.

Operation of a State Vehicle Yes Supervises Employees No Required Travel

Travel between college campuses required.
