In 1964, Robert McCulloch opened the original Nautical Inn, with just 16 rooms, a cocktail lounge, and a 180-seat dining room overlooking Thompson Bay. Over the next several years, the hotel expanded to accommodate the Bay Rooms, Cove Suites, the Commodore, and Captain Suites. Today, we are a one-stop, iconic destination boasting 139 rooms (that all overlook the water), 3 Food and Beverage outlets, a convention center, private launch ramp, a waterpark and fun for everyone.

About the Role:

The Security Officer plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of The Nautical Beachfront Resort by proactively monitoring and protecting personnel, property, and assets. This position requires vigilant observation and quick response to any security breaches or emergencies, ensuring a secure environment for all employees and visitors. The Security Officer will utilize various security technologies and communication tools to enforce access control and coordinate with emergency services when necessary. This role demands physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive motions and climb stairs as part of routine patrols. Ultimately, the Security Officer contributes to a safe workplace culture by upholding security protocols and fostering a sense of safety throughout the facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience as a security guard or in a related security role.
• Basic proficiency with computer systems and wireless communication devices.
• Ability to climb stairs, stand, walk and perform repetitive physical tasks during majority of shift.
• Strong oral communication skills to interact clearly with team members and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in security or law enforcement training.
• Experience with advanced access control systems and surveillance technology.
• First aid and CPR certification.
• Familiarity with emergency response protocols and procedures.
• Previous experience working in a corporate or nautical facility environment.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular patrols of the premises to detect and prevent unauthorized access or suspicious activities.
• Operate and monitor access control systems to ensure only authorized personnel enter restricted areas.
• Communicate effectively using radio and other wireless technology to coordinate with team members and report incidents.
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and incidents, providing assistance and escalating issues as needed.
• Maintain detailed logs and reports of daily activities, incidents, and security breaches for management review.

Skills:

The Security Officer will apply intermediate computer skills daily to operate security software and access control systems efficiently. Wireless technology and radio communication are essential for maintaining constant contact with security personnel and coordinating responses to incidents. Physical skills such as climbing stairs and performing repetitive motions are necessary for thorough patrols and maintaining a visible security presence. Oral communication skills enable the officer to interact professionally with employees, visitors, and emergency responders, ensuring clear and effective information exchange. Together, these skills ensure the Security Officer can perform their duties effectively, maintaining a safe and secure environment at The Nautical Beachfront Resort.
