Contract Security Officer  - 3rd Shift

The Contract Security Officer I is responsible for helping maintain a safe and secure environment throughout a hospital campus, including patient care facilities and surrounding grounds. This position focuses on security, safety, emergency response, conflict de-escalation, and supporting hospital staff during patient interactions. Candidates must be professional, dependable, and comfortable working in a healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine security patrols and monitor assigned areas throughout the campus.
  • Control facility access by monitoring entrances and exits.
  • Respond to emergencies, hospital codes, drills, and safety incidents.
  • Assist staff with patient interventions and provide support during behavioral incidents.
  • Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to help resolve conflicts safely.
  • Promote and support Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) practices.
  • Complete incident reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Monitor security cameras, radios, telephones, and other security equipment.
  • Perform building safety inspections and report hazards.
  • Assist with vehicle inspections, radio maintenance, and other security-related duties.
  • Rotate through various security posts as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous security, corrections, military, law enforcement, healthcare security, or related experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during emergency situations.
  • Experience writing incident reports and following written and verbal instructions.
  • Comfortable using security equipment, radios, surveillance cameras, and communication systems.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with hospital staff.
  • Ability to lift, carry, walk, stand, and perform other physical duties throughout the shift.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

  • Must obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC) if not already in possession.
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment screening requirements.

Required Health Clearances

Candidates must complete the following during onboarding:

  • Rubella/Rubeola Titers or MMR Vaccination
  • Hepatitis B Titer or Hepatitis B Vaccination
  • Varicella Titer or Varicella Vaccination
  • Current TB Skin Test or QuantiFERON-TB Gold (within the past 12 months)
  • N-95 Mask Fit Test
