    The Shelborne Miami Beach is an iconic Art Deco destination reimagined for a new generation. Rooted in Miami Beach history and energized by contemporary culture, the property is designed to be a social anchor for locals, travelers, hotel guests, and members alike. Our nightlife venues - including the Lobby Bar and the intimate Little Torch cocktail lounge - are intended to be lived-in, magnetic, and culturally relevant, not programmed from a distance.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Security Protocols & Policies:

    • Develop and implement security policies and procedures to ensure the safety of guests, employees, and hotel property.

    • Monitor compliance with security procedures, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations.

    • Stay current with local, state, and federal security regulations and ensure the hotel adheres to all required laws.

    • Conduct regular security audits to evaluate the effectiveness of existing security protocols.

    Team Management & Training:

    • Supervise and lead the security team, ensuring proper staffing levels, shift coverage, and effective performance.

    • Provide ongoing training and professional development to security staff on topics such as emergency procedures, customer service, and conflict resolution.

    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to security personnel to improve team performance and security measures.

    • Schedule and coordinate security team shifts, ensuring that security coverage is maintained at all times.

    Surveillance & Monitoring:

    • Oversee the operation of security systems, including surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems, ensuring they are in good working condition.

    • Review surveillance footage to investigate incidents, identify potential security threats, and provide support for investigations.

    • Monitor the property regularly to identify any vulnerabilities, reporting findings to senior management for immediate action.

    Emergency Response & Incident Management:

    • Lead the response to security incidents, emergencies, or safety concerns, ensuring quick and efficient resolution.

    • Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire department, or emergency medical services during incidents as necessary.

    • Document and report incidents, accidents, or suspicious activities in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.

    • Ensure that all incidents are properly investigated, and corrective actions are taken to prevent future occurrences.

    Guest & Employee Safety:

    • Provide a safe environment for guests and staff, addressing security concerns and responding to guest inquiries about safety.

    • Handle guest complaints and concerns regarding safety or security issues in a professional and courteous manner.

    • Ensure that all hotel employees are aware of safety protocols and provide assistance to staff in case of emergency situations.

    • Collaborate with department heads to ensure that staff members are trained to recognize and address potential safety issues.

    Security Equipment & Asset Protection:

    • Oversee the proper use and maintenance of security equipment, including security cameras, radios, fire alarms, and fire safety equipment.

    • Work with management to develop plans for asset protection, ensuring valuable hotel property is safeguarded.

    • Ensure that hotel entrances and exits are secure and monitored, particularly during high traffic periods.

    • Conduct regular inspections of security equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure that all systems are functioning properly.

    Reporting & Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of security activities, incidents, and reports.

    • Prepare and present regular security reports to senior management, providing insights into security trends, concerns, and improvements.

    • Ensure that all security-related incidents and activities are documented in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.

    Education and/or Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field preferred.

    • 3+ years of experience in security management, preferably in the hospitality industry.

    • Previous experience supervising or managing a security team is highly preferred.

    • Knowledge of local security regulations, emergency procedures, and safety standards is essential.

    • First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.

    Skills/Specialized Knowledge

    • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop security staff.

    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed during emergencies.

    • In-depth knowledge of security systems, surveillance equipment, and safety protocols.

    • Ability to assess and mitigate risks in a fast-paced environment.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with employees, guests, and external authorities.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant software tools.

    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify security vulnerabilities.

    • Knowledge of emergency response procedures, fire safety, and incident reporting.

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to stand and patrol for extended periods of time.

    • Ability to lift and carry items such as safety equipment, materials, and emergency supplies (up to 50 pounds).

    • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations, which may include moving rapidly or physically intervening when necessary.

    • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including inclement weather, when patrolling outdoor areas of the property.

    • Occasional lifting, bending, and climbing as required for inspections and incident responses.
