Security Analyst Security Data Analysis - Entry to Mid Level Maryland

Security Analysts protect NSA personnel, facilities, information, and missions by collecting, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or collating data associated with counterintelligence, counterespionage, counter-terrorism, and other threats as they affect NSA equities worldwide. When appropriate, provide security analysis, risk recommendations, and mitigations to decision makers and customers. Develop and monitor implementation and effectiveness of countermeasures for mitigating security risks. Apply security principles and risk reduction methodologies to customer business practices. Track, manage, and maintain highly sensitive security information, providing appropriate information to authorized recipients, when required, in appropriate formats, and within constraints of relevant policies, laws, and applicable guidance (for example, the Privacy Act and FOIA).

Responsibilities of a Security Analyst may include, but are not limited to:

Applying policy and regulations for vetting of security clearances and/or physical access Using resources effectively and efficiently to arrange information in a useful manner Obtaining, evaluating, organizing, and maintaining information Disseminating information to appropriate internal and external parties Creating a product based on analysis of security and/or counterintelligence data Providing timely and accurate responses to requests for assistance, information, products or services Authoring routine and/or detailed documents such as assessments, reports, and memorandums Monitor incoming tasks from other DoD Organizations and Agencies and ensure completion of required action needed. Submit help tickets to receive live data reports to fulfill requests as needed. Reviewing and redacting Personnel Security documents.

Ability to synthesize data from multiple applications and compare reports on a weekly and monthly basis. Able to use basic office tools and functions, such as Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Outlook). Able to lift 20 lbs.The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position.

Degree in any field is acceptable. Military training must be at least 18 semester hours of training in security analysis.

Relevant experience must be in one or more of the following: signals analysis, intelligence analysis, financial analysis, research analysis, physical or personnel security, TEMPEST, radio frequency, counterintelligence, electrical/electronics, technical surveillance countermeasures, telecommunications, wireless security, network packet analysis, cybersecurity, acquisition management, risk assessment, or security and counterintelligence (CI) investigations, or construction/facilities.

ENTRY/DEVELOPMENTAL Entry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience, or relevant military experience and 2 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree and no experience.

FULL PERFORMANCE Entry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 7 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, or relevant military experience and 2 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or relevant security training plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience.Pay: Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position.

Salary Range: $57,736 - $133,142 (Entry/Developmental, Full Performance) Salary range varies by location, work level, and relevant experience to the position.

Training will be provided based on the selectee's needs and experience.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirement between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible). Core hours are 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

DCIPS Trial Period: If selected for this position, you will be required to serve a two-year DCIPS trial period, unless you are a veterans' preference-eligible employee, in which case you are required to serve a one-year trial period. This trial period runs concurrently with your commitment to the position, if applicable. Before finalizing your appointment at the conclusion of your trial period, NSA will determine whether your continued employment advances the public interest. This decision will be based on factors such as your performance and conduct; the Agency's needs and interests; whether your continued employment would advance the Agency's organizational goals; and whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.

Upon completion of your trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.

If you do not receive certification for continued employment, you should receive written notice prior to the end of your trial period that your employment will be terminated and the effective date of such termination.
