Job Position: Security & Access Control Technician
Location: Abilene, TX 78601
Pay Rate: $40+/Hour
TradSTAR is hiring an experienced Security & Access Control Technician for commercial low-voltage projects in the Abilene area. This role is for a senior-level technician capable of independently installing, programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning integrated security systems.
Responsibilities
Install, program, and service access control and security systems in commercial environments.
Install and terminate card readers, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and power supplies.
Configure and troubleshoot IP-based access control systems and networked security devices.
Program controllers, panels, and software-based security platforms.
Integrate access control systems with CCTV and intrusion alarm systems.
Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and system layouts.
Install low-voltage cabling, conduit, and pathway systems as needed.
Perform system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting at a high technical level.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes.
Qualifications
4+ years of commercial access control and security system experience required.
Strong knowledge of enterprise security platforms such as:
o LenelS2
o Software House CCURE
o Genetec
o Avigilon
o Brivo
o Openpath
o Gallagher
o Honeywell Pro-Watch
o Verkada
Experience with IP networking, relay logic, and integrated security systems.
Ability to independently troubleshoot complex system and programming issues.
Experience installing and troubleshooting all standard door hardware (maglocks, strikes, REX devices).
Ability to read and work from construction drawings and technical documentation.
Valid driver s license required.
