The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Secretary Medical registers new patients in the computer system. Schedules appointments and prepare patient correspondence. Provides secretarial support for Burn office hours. During Burn office hours require extended working hours. Process all medical documents into the patient's chart. Obtain authorization and referrals for office visits and procedures.
As a Secretary Medical typical day might include the following:
- Answering all telephones takes accurate messages, answers questions, and appropriately refers calls
- Ensuring patient information is correct along with parent/guardian information. Obtain required information for visits and signatures
- Making sure correct insurance information is in computer along with collecting copay and balances due on accounts
- Providing patients with necessary documentation and appointments.
- Preparing all patient charts for patient office hours and checking all the insurance, demographic information, My Chart, referrals, authorizations and patient balances
- Confirming patient information in back prior to seeing burn technician and ensuring room flow is moving for office hours
- Scheduling unveilings, laser surgery, and burn surgery as directed by the physician or nurse practitioner
- Collaborating with team members to obtain referrals from primary care physicians and authorizations from insurance companies for office visits
- Collaborating with team members to obtain authorization for surgeries from insurance companies
- Scheduling appointments for legal dispositions, and narratives

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. With minimum of 2 years of medical setting, preferably a physician office. Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and computer skills are essential, as the ability to work effectively in a collaborative healthcare environment. Full Time, Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm.
