Job Summary

The Department Secretary is responsible for all front desk operations and providing administrative support to ensure the efficient operations of departments falling under the purview of Outpatient Office Operations. These duties include but are not limited to scheduling, registration, insurance verification, authorization validation and submission, referral management, time-of-service collections, financial clearance, and consent form capture. This role involves maintaining accurate records and provider templates, ordering office supplies, and facilitating communication between departmental staff, patients, and external parties. Daily contact with a broad spectrum of people throughout the organization and outside agencies/institutions. Position requires coverage in both Fishkill and Cornwall locations.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent Required
  • Post high school education Preferred
  • 1-3 years experience in an office support role required, with demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks Required
  • Medical office experience Preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
  • Knowledge of CPT Codes, ICD-10 codes and Medical Terminology.
  • Competent with Windows-based software.
  • Strong/positive personal interactions a must.
  • Required to successfully complete the Healthcare Access Orientation program and pass Patient Access certification within 30 Days
  • CPAS or CPB Preferred
  • CPAS Recertification is required every two years.
