The Division of Administrative Hearings, Bureau of Unemployment Compensation, consists of a team of hearing officers and support staff whose mission is to provide timely and fair due process hearings to parties seeking review of agency decisions.

We have an opening for an associate legal secretary position. Typical duties of the position include scheduling hearings, preparing hearing notices and packets, fielding calls from the public, and processing various types of requests. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. This position is based in Augusta with the ability to be hybrid remote.

Minimum qualifications:
Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of the principles and practices of office processes and administrative functions to perform complex secretarial support tasks and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. Plus: Competency in applying a solid knowledge of legal terminology and legal practices to perform complex secretarial tasks.
All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Secretary.
Preference will be given to those applicants:
Knowledge of Maines unemployment insurance program would be preferred but not required.
