PGS Worldwide is seeking a Secret-Cleared Systems Engineer in Woodland Hills, California for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will lead requirements development, technical baseline management, verification and validation, and system-level testing for complex defense systems. The engineer will serve as a technical point of contact, working with customers, engineering leadership, and Agile teams to translate customer needs into verified system requirements.
Required Skills
- Principal track: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of engineering experience; OR master’s degree in STEM with 3+ years of engineering experience; OR Ph.D. in STEM with 1+ year of engineering experience.
- Senior track: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 8+ years of engineering experience; OR master’s degree in STEM with 6+ years of engineering experience; OR Ph.D. in STEM with 4+ years of engineering experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance required at the time of application.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience with IBM Rational DOORS.
- Experience writing, updating, decomposing, and deriving system requirements from customer specifications.
- Experience with requirements and technical baseline management.
- Systems Engineering experience including software requirements development, requirements development, test case development, and verification and validation.
- Experience executing tests, documenting results, and supporting test investigations and debugging.
- Ability to communicate technical information including requirements updates, test plans, and integration test plans.
- Experience presenting technical information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, California.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, and Ethernet interfaces.
- Experience working within Agile engineering teams.
- Experience with JIRA.
- Systems Engineering experience on large, complex systems.
- Lab and system integration experience.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering experience using Cameo or equivalent modeling tools.
- Experience with ClearQuest and ClearCase.
What You’ll Do
- Work with customers to identify system requirements and translate them into engineering and design documentation.
- Generate, review, update, and manage requirements covering system performance and nonperformance criteria.
- Manage requirements involving mechanical interfaces, electrical interfaces, data, environmental requirements, and reliability.
- Maintain requirements and technical baselines within IBM Rational DOORS.
- Decompose and derive lower-level requirements from customer and system specifications.
- Lead Agile engineering activities to ensure designs satisfy system requirements.
- Coordinate with multiple engineering teams to verify requirements through inspection, analysis, demonstration, or testing.
- Develop or provide test and data-reduction scripts as needed to support verification activities.
- Provide technical direction for production and troubleshooting tests and evaluate resulting data for requirements compliance.
- Present product capabilities, performance analyses, design information, and verification methods to customers and technical stakeholders.
- Support test investigations, integration efforts, troubleshooting, and debugging.
- Track contract milestones, technical deliverables, and requirements-verification activities.
