Description

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Secret-Cleared Power Generation Technician in Lexington, Kentucky for a contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial generators, electrical distribution systems, and expeditionary support equipment used to keep critical infrastructure operational and mission-ready. The technician will also support HVAC, plumbing, and other bare-base facility systems as needed.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0–2 years of relevant experience.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required to start.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining, overhauling, and repairing commercial or industrial generators such as Cummins, Caterpillar, or MEP-series equipment.
  • Experience deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing low-to-medium voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience with switchgear, load banks, electrical cabling, and distribution panels.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and diagnose complex electromechanical problems.
  • 1–2 years of HVAC experience.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on a variety of bare-base equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in demanding environments.
  • Ability and willingness to learn maintenance and repair procedures for new or specialized equipment.
  • Ability to lift and handle equipment weighing 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, confined spaces, and at heights as necessary.
  • Ability to satisfy applicable medical, dental, physical, and deployment requirements if hired into a position requiring future deployment.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with bare-base, expeditionary, and rapid-deployment equipment.
  • Experience with deployable power-grid systems.
  • Experience maintaining portable HVAC or environmental control units.
  • Basic plumbing and general facility maintenance experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose, service, overhaul, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on diesel and gas generators up to 1 MW.
  • Deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair low-to-medium voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Service switchgear, load banks, cabling, distribution panels, and related power equipment.
  • Monitor electrical loads and perform load balancing to maintain safe and reliable power distribution.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair bare-base equipment, including deployable systems, mobile light towers, and uninterruptible power supply systems.
  • Diagnose and maintain portable HVAC systems and environmental control units.
  • Set up, maintain, and repair expeditionary water and wastewater plumbing systems.
  • Support temporary structures such as tents and hard-sided shelters.
  • Ensure assigned equipment remains operational, properly inventoried, and ready for deployment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and parts-inventory records using designated maintenance management systems.

Travel / Deployment

  • No OCONUS travel is expected while working under the contract.
  • If converted to a direct-hire position, extended travel or deployment of up to 90 days within a 12-month period may be required, including potential assignments to remote, austere, or hazardous overseas locations.

Pay

  • $24.50–$36.75 per hour.
