PGS Worldwide is seeking a Secret-Cleared Facility Operations Technician in Lexington, Kentucky for a contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This hands-on position will maintain and repair material handling equipment, military vehicles, generators, electrical systems, plumbing, and expeditionary support equipment. The technician will help ensure critical infrastructure and deployment equipment remain operational and mission-ready.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree with 0–2 years of relevant experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance required to start.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Proven hands-on experience maintaining and repairing forklifts, skid steers, wheel loaders, military vehicles, and other material handling equipment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in demanding environments.
- Ability and willingness to learn maintenance and repair procedures for specialized equipment.
- Ability to lift and handle equipment weighing 50+ lbs.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, confined spaces, and at heights as necessary.
- Ability to satisfy applicable medical, dental, physical, and deployment requirements if hired into a position requiring future deployment.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with bare-base or expeditionary equipment and rapid-deployment structures.
- Knowledge of commercial or industrial HVAC systems.
- Experience maintaining and repairing generators and electrical distribution equipment.
- Plumbing and electrical troubleshooting experience.
- 1–2 years of HVAC-related experience.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose, service, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on material handling equipment.
- Maintain and repair military and heavy vehicles, including forklifts, skid steers, and wheel loaders.
- Troubleshoot and repair generators ranging from approximately 5 kW to 200+ kW and associated electrical distribution systems.
- Maintain expeditionary plumbing systems, including water and wastewater equipment.
- Set up, maintain, and repair temporary structures such as tents and hard-sided shelters.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair a variety of bare-base and rapid-deployment equipment.
- Troubleshoot AC/DC wiring, fixtures, and electrical control systems.
- Ensure assigned equipment is operational, properly inventoried, and ready for deployment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and parts-inventory records using designated maintenance management systems.
- Diagnose complex equipment problems and develop practical repair solutions in the field.
Travel / Deployment
- No OCONUS travel is expected while working under the contract.
- If converted to a direct-hire position, the role may require extended travel or deployment of up to 90 days within a 12-month period, including potential assignments to remote, austere, or hazardous overseas locations.
