SECONDARY READING SPECIALIST (6-12)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid teaching credential
Secondary Reading Endorsement (preferred)
The selected candidate will be provided with training as necessary and appropriate
Successful teaching experience in teaching struggling readers
Good communication and leadership skills
Interest in working with teachers as well as struggling readers
Ability to self-reflect
Ability to receive, reflect, and respond to feedback
REPORTS TO:
Assistant Superintendent
WORKS DIRECTLY WITH:
Building Principals, Reading Recovery Teacher Leader, Title I Reading Teachers
MISSION:
To remediate reading difficulties in students. Provide testing, monitoring, and documentation for Individualized Reading Plans.
JOB GOAL:
The intent of this position is to facilitate student Reading growth in accordance with state standards and guidelines for Reading proficiency.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Approximately 180 days; salary and fringe benefits to be set by Board of Trustees.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
