Description
SUMMARY: Temporary/Seasonal Streets & Alleys and Sanitation Laborer performs a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled work in construction, maintenance and repair activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs a wide variety of maintenance activities requiring the use of tools and equipment such as jackhammers, pumps, mowers, air compressors, mechanical and manual cutting tools and specialized water and sewer maintenance equipment. Operates vehicles and other equipment as assigned.
Responds to emergency calls as required.
Assists in performing a variety of duties assigned to other level classes in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sanitation, parks and other facilities.
Assists in collection and disposal of solid waste.
Cleans and performs routine maintenance on tools, equipment and facilities as assigned.
Operates equipment in construction, maintenance and repair activities including patching streets, painting curbs, sign repair, snow removal and related duties.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Exercises supervision over personnel as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under general supervision of a lead operator or working foreman.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Some knowledge of the tools and equipment used in general construction, maintenance, and repair work; ability to work alone and without supervision; ability to follow standard safety practices and procedures common to construction and maintenance work.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Wyoming Commercial Drivers License of the required status; ability to be insured under the Citys municipal automobile insurance coverage; must be at least 18 years of age.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Holidays - All regular employees are eligible, as well as seasonal employees with aggregate service to the City of 15 months or more, for Holiday Leave for approved holidays (pro-rated based on hire date). The City recognizes 10 holidays per year, which totals 80 hours of holiday time granted each year. Sick Leave - All regular employees are eligible, as well as seasonal employees with aggregate service to the City of 15 months or more, for Sick Leave. Sick Leave accrues at a rate of approximately 20 days per year (.046 hrs / regular hour worked). Sick Leave is not paid out at termination.
