Overview of Position:

Working as part of a core team supporting the delivery of exemplary visitor service, the Guest Services Representative (Seasonal/Temporary role) helps ensure the guest experience at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is enjoyable, informative, and meaningful.

This summer non-exempt position is temporary (approximately 10-12 weeks) beginning in late May or early June 2026 and concluding in mid-August 2026. This position is not eligible for employee benefits, including but not limited to health insurance, paid time off, or retirement benefits. Employment will conclude at the end of the designated period.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Greet and interact with Museum visitors and groups, providing them with directions and information about the Museum, exhibits, gallery directions, and event-related Museum programs and services.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to Museum guests, while adhering to departmental and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Observe and enforce compliance with Museum courtesy guidelines regarding photography, cell phone use, food, drinks, and obstructive behavior in the exhibit galleries.
  • Collect guest information as needed, including visitor comments or complaints, opinion surveys, demographic surveys, and visitor observations.
  • Ensure that visitor facilities are clean and well-presented. Report any issues to the Guest Services Manager and Operations staff.
  • Manage traffic flow and crowd control in the Visitors Center and exhibit areas, particularly during peak attendance periods associated with the event.
  • Assist with basic first aid care and support evacuations during emergencies as needed.
  • Support event-specific operational needs as assigned.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability and willingness to stand for extended periods of time and to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Demonstrated customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with diverse audiences, including large and international crowds.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating adaptability, flexibility, initiative, and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evening shifts based on event operational needs, as well as required training sessions outside of regularly scheduled shifts.
  • Must be able to reliably report to work as scheduled, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, responsibility, and trustworthiness in a public-facing role.

 

Preferred Qualifications (Optional):

  • 6 months of experience working at a visitor or cultural attraction, museum, or in a customer service environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in history, museums, cultural institutions, or enrollment in a related college degree program such as history or museum studies.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a seasonal, non-exempt position with hours scheduled based on operational needs. Compensation is commensurate with experience and aligned with the Museum's internal compensation structure.
