TITLE - Seal of Biliteracy Coordinator - 2026-2027 SY

Stipend position: $1,000

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Seal of Biliteracy coordinator ensures that the district has a systematic, equitable process for identifying, assessing, and recognizing students who demonstrate proficiency in English and another language. This includes outreach to students and families, coordinating assessments, maintaining records, and ensuring students receive the Seal on their diploma/transcript.

A Seal of Biliteracy coordinator increases transparency throughout the Seal of Biliteracy process and increases student access to the Seal opportunities and participation by following specific processes and procedures to maximize the number of graduates earning the Seal.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Survey student interest every fall
• Edit and share out DESE Seal of Biliteracy Annual Notification Letter districtwide
• Compile and maintain roster of students testing and corresponding scores
• Develop and present Seal of Biliteracy informational presentation prior to testing
• Order assessments through digital platform
• Collaborate with administration to draft test schedule and share out with students and staff
• Monitor/oversee assessment completion
• Edit and share out to students/families a cover letter with assessment scores
• Collaborate with high school main office staff and SIS manager to ensure proper transcript and diploma insignia
• Collaborate with high school guidance staff to maintain record of Seal of Biliteracy assessment results in student permanent file

Qualifications:

• Current Member of Bellingham Public Schools faculty preferred
