Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly motivated
Scientist I to join the
Gene Therapy team in San Diego, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative non-viral nucleic acid delivery technologies for
in vivo and
ex vivo genome editing and gene therapy applications. The successful candidate will support the analytical characterization of novel lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-based therapeutics and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced research environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform quantitative analysis of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) encapsulating nucleic acids under the guidance of Analytical Scientists.
- Analyze raw materials used in LNP formulations to ensure quality and consistency.
- Evaluate the relationship between the physicochemical properties of experimental nanoparticle formulations and their efficacy and safety.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and organized analytical records and experimental documentation.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support research and development activities.
- Assist with routine laboratory operations, including supply ordering, instrument calibration, and maintenance of laboratory schedules.
Qualifications- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- 0–2 years of relevant industry or academic laboratory experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Preferred Skills & Experience- Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as:
- RiboGreen assays
- Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS)
- Zeta Potential measurements
- Experience with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with additional analytical characterization techniques is a plus.
- Experience preparing and formulating laboratory buffers.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to generate accurate, reproducible results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data analysis software such as GraphPad Prism or JMP is desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively in a collaborative team environment.
