Position: Scientist I
Location: San Diego, CA 92111 (Poseida)
Contract Duration: 12 Months (Potential for Extension or Full-Time Conversion)
Pay Rate: $27.96 - $44.82/hour (W2)

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Scientist I to join the Gene Therapy team in San Diego, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative non-viral nucleic acid delivery technologies for in vivo and ex vivo genome editing and gene therapy applications. The successful candidate will support the analytical characterization of novel lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-based therapeutics and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced research environment.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform quantitative analysis of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) encapsulating nucleic acids under the guidance of Analytical Scientists.
  • Analyze raw materials used in LNP formulations to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Evaluate the relationship between the physicochemical properties of experimental nanoparticle formulations and their efficacy and safety.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and organized analytical records and experimental documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support research and development activities.
  • Assist with routine laboratory operations, including supply ordering, instrument calibration, and maintenance of laboratory schedules.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 0–2 years of relevant industry or academic laboratory experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
 
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as:
    • RiboGreen assays
    • Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS)
    • Zeta Potential measurements
  • Experience with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with additional analytical characterization techniques is a plus.
  • Experience preparing and formulating laboratory buffers.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to generate accurate, reproducible results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data analysis software such as GraphPad Prism or JMP is desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively in a collaborative team environment.
