ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and other health care providers.
- Ensure availability of supplies and equipment; process sterile instrumentation and equipment.
- Performs housekeeping duties as necessary.
- Utilize sterile technique while setting up and assisting physician.
- Assist in direct patient care when necessary.
- Participate in call schedule.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

- Knowledge and competency in OR technology and central service.
AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
Information Management: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
Risk Management/Quality Management/Safety: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education - 12-month certificate program or two-year associate degree in surgical technology.
- Work Experience - One-year minimum working in an OR as a surgical technician or a new graduate from a scrub tech school or program.
- Training - Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technician/Technologist program.
- License/Certification - BLS required within 6 months of hire. Preferred - CST (Certified Sterile Technician)
ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, and interaction with patients and staff. Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds as part of routine duties.
