GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:The Scrap Crane Operator is a hands-on role. The Scrap Crane Operator is responsible for operating equipment to load, transport, and unloads scrap baskets within the scrap yard. The Scrap Crane Operator must be able to sit for up to 12 hours a day and climb to heights of 100 feet by way of stairs and/or ladders.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Loading of scrap baskets with stainless steel and carbon scrap per heat recipe2. Unloading of scrap from trucks and railroad cars and placing the scrap in the designated bin3. Perform any other crane operations as assigned4. Collaborate with leadership to train new operators5. Perform duties of EAF crane operator while covering a shift (if signed off on by leadership)6. Performed as necessary or when assigned by a supervisor7. Follow all prescribed safety rules8. Complete all housekeeping tasks9. Complete periodic maintenance check of equipment10. Assist maintenance with tasks during down times11. Perform any other duties as assigned12. Participate in the continuous improvement programs designed for Melt Shop OperationsSUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Other duties as assigned2.
