This applies to direct care staff (Examples: RN, LPN, Nurse Aides, Therapists) referred to Kentucky nursing facilities, assisted living communities, or long-term care facilities, in accordance with KRS 216.793. This role will focus on accelerating lentiviral vector (LVV) and adeno-associated virus (AAV) generation platforms through process development, automation, production optimization, and viral vector characterization.

Russell Tobin is supporting a leading biotechnology organization with an onsite contract opening for a Scientist in South San Francisco CA.

This role will focus on accelerating lentiviral vector (LVV) and adeno-associated virus (AAV) generation platforms through process development, automation, production optimization, and viral vector characterization.
 
Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize lentiviral vector (LVV) and AAV production workflows to improve viral vector yield, throughput, and turnaround time.
• Integrate and program automated liquid handling systems and high-throughput platforms for transfection, transduction, cell seeding, and parallel expression studies.
• Design and optimize suspension-based LVV upstream production processes, including cell expansion, transient transfection, and viral harvest.
• Develop and optimize downstream purification processes, including filtration, tangential flow filtration (TFF), ultrafiltration/diafiltration, and chromatography.
• Perform viral vector characterization and quality control using molecular biology and analytical techniques.
• Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) and data analysis to optimize production parameters and improve process consistency.
• Maintain viral vector inventories, laboratory records, SOPs, technical reports, and technology transfer documentation.

Requirements:

• MS or PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Virology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Genetics, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of laboratory research or industry experience in a relevant field.
• Required: Hands-on experience with ex vivo CAR T-cell engineering using lentivirus.
• Strong experience in mammalian cell culture, transient plasmid transfection, and molecular biology techniques.
• Proficiency in PCR, qPCR, ddPCR/dPCR, and Western blot.
• Experience with lentiviral or AAV production, upstream/downstream process development, and viral vector characterization is highly desirable.
• Experience with automated liquid handling systems, high-throughput workflows, and statistical DOE modeling preferred.
• Knowledge of flow cytometry, electronic laboratory notebooks, and BSL-2 facility management is a plus.
• Strong data analysis and presentation skills, including proficiency with Excel, GraphPad Prism, or comparable analytical tools.

Additional Details:

• Location model: South San Francisco CA (Onsite)
• Shift: Mon to Fri 8hrs/day, 40hrs/week
• Position Type: 6-month contract (potential to extend)
• Pay range approved: $45/hr - $49.65/hr (depending on experience)
