Scientist III - Flow Technology

Description

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Scientist III to join our Flow Technology department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility.

The Scientist III designs and executes research supporting R&D and process development projects in batch and in flow technology . Independently performs laboratory and scale-up activities and applies chemical engineering principles to plan, execute with minimal supervision. Ensures all work complies with safety, quality, and cGMP requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Initiate and complete experiments independently and efficiently; Prepare data packages independently, and interpret the data accurately; Propose and implement follow-up experiments to solve scientific problems independently; Keep abreast of literature in own field
• Propose and explore new experimental protocols with supervision
• Effectively communicate own work in oral or written forms; for example, discuss and present own work in a concise and accurate manner at group/project meetings
• Assist in supervising/training technicians and junior scientists when needed
• Demonstrate understanding of individual goals within the context of overall project goals; Work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
• Utilize new technologies to improve productivity in the lab
• Familiarity with process modeling, application to batch and continuous processes
• Understand process economics, timelines, environmental (green chemistry) and process safety issues
• Contribute to publications and patents
• Comply with applicable regulations (performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records (notebook, binders, etc.) in accordance with SOPs and policies

Requirements

• Master´s Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus (3+) years of experience in related scientific discipline, OR Bachelor´s Degree from an accredited institution with seven-plus (7+) years of experience in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field
• Demonstrated successful independent chemistry laboratory and pilot scale experience and the understanding of multiple technologies required for process scale up and API manufacturing
• Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written forms in inter-disciplinary environments
• Must be able to work in a team environment, provide training and guidance to laboratory personnel

Compensation Data

The base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $147,000.00 USD. The position may be eligible for a role specific discretionary bonus, relocation, and/or other compensation elements. We continuously review market data and may adjust salary ranges as needed in the future.
