    Scientist I - Preclinical Pharmacology (In Vivo & In Vitro)
    Lexington, MA

    Overview
    We are seeking a motivated and highly skilled Scientist I to join our Preclinical Pharmacology team in Lexington, MA. This is a hands-on laboratory role supporting both in vivo and in vitro pharmacology studies, with a primary focus on immunology, inflammation, metabolic disease, fibrosis, and other non-tumor therapeutic areas.

    The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in preclinical pharmacology, including animal disease models, dosing, sample collection, therapeutic efficacy evaluation, and/or cell-based assays. This individual will independently execute experimental protocols, analyze and interpret data, troubleshoot experimental procedures, and support assay development and optimization using methods such as flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD, and qPCR.

    Key Responsibilities

    Study Execution & Laboratory Research

    • Conduct in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo experiments under the direction of the Principal Scientist or Study Director.
    • Perform laboratory techniques including cell-based assays, animal studies, flow cytometry, molecular and protein analysis, and other related experimental procedures.
    • Execute experimental protocols including sample preparation, dosing, sample collection, data collection, and routine assay procedures.
    • Support assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting to ensure reproducibility and data quality.
    • Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and materials required for study execution.

    Data Collection & Documentation

    • Accurately document experimental procedures, observations, raw data, and results in accordance with company requirements.
    • Assist with data analysis, interpretation, and preparation of study reports, summaries, and presentations.
    • Maintain data integrity and proper documentation practices consistent with internal quality requirements.

    Collaboration & Project Support

    • Work closely with Principal Scientists, Study Directors, and cross-functional teams to execute assigned studies according to project timelines.
    • Support the preparation of experimental summaries, data reports, and supporting documentation for client projects.
    • Participate in internal meetings to discuss experimental progress, study results, and technical issues.
    • Manage assigned experimental priorities while supporting multiple studies and client projects.

    Quality & Compliance

    • Follow established SOPs, study protocols, animal welfare requirements, laboratory safety procedures, and quality standards.
    • Support QMS activities, including documentation updates, equipment qualification and maintenance, and internal audits, as applicable.

    Organizational Support

    • Maintain an organized laboratory environment, including inventory management, reagent preparation, and equipment maintenance.
    • Stay current with laboratory techniques and scientific developments relevant to assigned projects.

    Additional Duties

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal Scientist or management to support study execution and organizational needs.

    Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field; or a Master's degree with relevant research experience.
    • 1–3 years of relevant research experience in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, CRO, or academic research environment; strong new Ph.D. graduates may also be considered.
    • Strong hands-on experience with in vitro, ex vivo, and/or in vivo experimental techniques relevant to preclinical pharmacology.
    • Experience with cell culture, cell-based assays, flow cytometry, molecular biology, protein analysis, or related laboratory methods.
    • Experience with animal models, dosing, sample collection, tissue collection, and other in vivo procedures is preferred.
    • Experience with ELISA, MSD, qPCR, cytokine assays, or similar analytical methods is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to independently execute experimental protocols, analyze and interpret data, and troubleshoot experimental issues.
    • Experience with assay development, optimization, or implementation of new experimental methods is preferred.
    • Ability to maintain accurate experimental records and prepare data summaries, presentations, and study documentation.
    • Ability to effectively communicate scientific results and collaborate with Study Directors, scientists, and cross-functional teams.
    • Strong attention to detail, scientific judgment, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple experimental priorities.
    • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced CRO environment supporting multiple client projects.
