Job Summary:
Southwood Jr/Sr High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated MS/HS science teacher to join our team for the 20262027 school year. The successful candidate will foster curiosity, promote scientific thinking, and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction across life, physical, and earth sciences. We are looking for an educator who values relationships, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design and implement science lessons that align with Indiana state standards.
- Establish a supportive and engaging classroom environment that encourages inquiry and student participation.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Use a variety of assessment tools to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to enhance instructional practices and school culture.
- Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
- Participate in professional development, school meetings, and extracurricular opportunities as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Valid Indiana teaching license with 5-9 or 5-12 science endorsement
- Bachelors degree in education, science, or related field
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
