Position Summary
LYNC Transportation Services is seeking dependable, professional part-time School Van Drivers to provide student transportation services throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. Drivers will operate Company-owned passenger vans. No prior professional driving experience is required; applicants must have at least three years of licensed driving experience. LYNC provides paid, hands-on training and ongoing support to help new drivers become safe, confident student transportation professionals. 

Schedule
Part-time, school-year schedule: AM-only, PM-only, or split shifts (AM/PM routes). Applicants must be available Monday through Friday for their assigned shift. No nights, weekends, holidays, or summers required.

  • AM Shift: Assignments scheduled between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
  • PM Shift: Assignments scheduled between 1:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
  • AM & PM: Split-shift schedule with morning and afternoon assignments, typically totaling 20–25 hours per week.

Optional additional hours may be available for midday routes, field trips, special events, summer transportation, and other assignments based on operational needs.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Safely transport students on assigned routes and schedules.
  • Assist students with boarding, exiting, seating, and securement as needed.
  • Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Communicate route status, delays, incidents, and emergencies to Dispatch.
  • Use Company-issued tablets, routing and navigation systems, digital manifests, electronic DVIRs, communication platforms, and other required technology.
  • Report accidents, incidents, safety concerns, and vehicle issues as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe Company vehicle.
  • Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 25 years of age to meet Company vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum three (3) years of licensed driving experience.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to safely operate Company passenger vans.
  • Ability to effectively use Company-issued technology and electronic systems.
  • Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and sound judgment.

  • Previous experience transporting students or passengers, operating passenger vans, or working with children or individuals requiring transportation assistance.
Conditions of Employment
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion and verification of all applicable pre-employment requirements, including:

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
  • FBI Criminal History Background Check
  • Act 168 Employment History Review
  • Valid Pennsylvania Act 126 Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training Certificate
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Screening dated within the past three (3) months
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) meeting Company and insurance requirements
  • Drug and Alcohol Screening
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely operate a passenger van for extended periods.
  • Ability to enter and exit Company vehicles repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Ability to assist students with boarding, exiting, seating, and securement as required.
  • Ability to perform vehicle inspections and respond appropriately during emergency situations.

This role requires English proficiency to safely perform its essential functions. Training and safety communications are conducted in English. Company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications are also conducted in English. Employees must be able to communicate with students, families, schools, Dispatch, and emergency personnel when needed. This requirement is job-related and consistent with applicable safety and transportation requirements. Where DOT rules apply to a vehicle or assignment, employees must also meet the applicable English-language requirements.
