SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER REPORTS
TO:
Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services SALARY GRADE:
As
per
negotiated
NBEA
agreement
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: To function as a member of the basic Child Study Team and provide appropriate intervention aimed
at
enhancing
the
personal
and
social
functioning
of
the
student.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Must
hold
New
Jersey
Department
of
Education
issued
Social
Worker
endorsement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Participates
in
all
Child
Study
Team
activities
and
decisions.
Assembles
developmental
and
current
data
pertaining
to
the
personal
and
social
adjustment
of
the
student,
and
prepares
a
social
history
of
the
pupil.
Provides
social
assessment
and
diagnosis
for
students
referred
to
Child
Study
Team.
Makes
recommendations
for
classification
and
special
education
programs
for
students
based
on
evaluative
findings
and
needs
of
students.
Participates
in
the
formulation
of
an
individualized
educational
prescriptive
plan
based
on
the
evaluative
findings
and
needs
of
students.
Provides
casework
assistance
to
students
and
parents.
Confers
with
parents.
Shares
information
and
collaborates
with
teacher
and
other
school
staff
on
matters
involving
social
issues.
Serves
as
liaison
between
school,
family,
and
community
agencies.
Assists
in
providing
follow-up
services
as
recommended
by
the
Child
Study
Team
for
classified
students.
Performs
other
duties
which
may
be
assigned
by
his/her
superior(s)
under
authority
of
the
Board
of
Education. OTHER DUTIES:
Any
other
duties
as
assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers,
phones,
photocopiers,
filing
cabinets
and
fax
machines.
